Articulating wand (ball-joint wand)
A steam wand with a multi-directional joint, letting you position the tip at any angle and height.
Category: Steam & Hot Water
A steam wand with a multi-directional ball-joint at its base, letting you position the tip at any angle and height. Almost every decent prosumer machine has one.
Why it matters — An articulating wand makes it easy to find the right whirlpool angle for milk texturing, regardless of jug size or cup setup. Fixed-position wands force you to adapt to them; articulating wands adapt to you.
Good to know
- The ball-joint can wear or develop play over years of use; replacements are inexpensive and serviceable.
- Always set the angle, then engage the steam — don't move the wand mid-stream, or you'll disrupt the vortex.
