Auto-purge

A feature on some espresso machines that automatically vents a short burst of steam through the wand after you finish steaming, clearing residual milk from the tip before it dries.

Why it matters — Automates the manual purge step. The wand stays clear and hygienic without requiring the barista to remember the 2-second purge after every drink.

Good to know

• Found on La Marzocco Linea Mini, Rocket R Nine One, higher-end Breville machines, and some commercial models.
• You should still wipe the wand exterior even with auto-purge — auto-purge clears the inside of the tip, not the outside.
