Cool-touch wand (no-burn wand)

A double-walled or insulated steam wand that stays cool to the touch during operation. Safer to handle, especially in households with children or pets.

Why it matters — A standard steam wand reaches 130 °C and stays hot for several minutes after use — burning hazard for anyone in the kitchen. Cool-touch wands stay around skin-safe temperatures externally while still delivering hot steam internally.

Good to know

• Some baristas find cool-touch wands texture milk slightly differently because the wand exterior doesn't pre-heat the milk it passes through.
• Common on home-focused models (Breville Dual Boiler, some Lelit, some Rancilio).
