Dosing ring
A magnetic or friction ring that sits on top of the basket to catch loose grounds and guide them in.
Category: Accessories & Barista Tools
A magnetic or friction ring that sits on top of the portafilter basket like a short collar, catching loose grounds and guiding them into the basket rather than onto the bench.
Why it matters — Single-dose workflows almost always overshoot — there's always a few stray grounds that miss the basket. A dosing ring contains them so your weighed dose ends up where it's meant to, and your bench stays clean.
Good to know
- Magnetic rings hold without slipping but only work on stainless baskets — friction rings work on anything.
- Different baskets (VST, IMS, stock) have different rim diameters — match the ring to the basket.
