Drip Tray & Drain
The catch tray under the group plus the drain hose that takes waste water from the 3-way solenoid and the drip tray to the bin or floor waste.
Category: Espresso Machine — Groups & Brew Path
The tray that catches water and waste from the group head, steam wand, and hot water tap. Domestic machines have removable trays for manual emptying; commercial machines drain directly into a sink or floor drain.
Why it matters — The drip tray is the most-handled part of an espresso machine — it gets removed and emptied multiple times daily. Tray quality affects daily workflow more than most other components.
Good to know
- Stainless steel trays are easier to clean than chrome or painted ones.
- Empty the tray daily even at home — standing water grows bacteria and starts to smell within a day or two.
