Glass carafe / server
A container for decanting brewed coffee — common with pour-overs, Chemex (integrated), and batch brewers.
Category: Accessories & Barista Tools
A container — usually glass, sometimes ceramic — used to decant brewed coffee. Common with pour-over setups (V60 over a server), built into the Chemex, or as the receiving vessel under a batch brewer.
Why it matters — A server lets you brew more coffee than fits in a single cup, hold it briefly while you serve, and pour cleanly without dripping. It also makes pour-over brewing easier to control — you can watch the volume rise as you pour.
Good to know
- Pre-heat the server with hot water before brewing — cold glass drops temperature fast.
- Borosilicate glass survives thermal shock; ordinary glass can crack if you pour boiling water into a cold carafe.
