Iced latte

Espresso + cold milk + ice.

Espresso poured over cold milk and ice — usually served in a tall glass with a straw. The simplest of the cold milk drinks on the Australian menu.

Why it matters — Iced lattes are a huge summer category. Done well, they balance bright espresso character against cold milk and gradual dilution from melting ice; done badly, they're watery and sour.

Good to know

  • Use cold-but-not-frozen milk — straight-from-the-fridge milk shocks the espresso and produces a flat drink.
  • A specialty-grade approach: brew a small concentrated shot, pour over cold milk first, then add ice last to slow the dilution.
