Kalita Wave

A flat-bottomed pour-over dripper with three small holes, using a wavy-ridged paper filter.

Category: Brew Methods — Non-Espresso

A flat-bottomed pour-over dripper with three small holes in the base and a wavy-ridged paper filter that creates an air gap between the filter and the brewer wall.

Why it matters — The flat bottom and three small holes make the Kalita more forgiving than a V60. Pour timing and technique matter less; the water level rises and falls evenly across the bed.

Good to know

  • Comes in stainless, glass, and ceramic — stainless is the most durable; ceramic holds heat better.
  • Use a stable pour onto the centre of the bed — don't worry about spiral patterns; the geometry handles distribution.
