Levelling distributor

A spinning tool with angled blades that sits on top of the portafilter basket. You twist it a few times and the blades shave and flatten the top of the grind bed before tamping.

Why it matters — A flat, even grind bed extracts more evenly because water hits a uniform surface. Levellers speed up puck prep and make your tamp consistently flat without relying on hand technique.

Good to know

• A leveller flattens the top but doesn't break clumps — pair it with WDT for the best result.
• Adjust the depth so the blades just kiss the surface of the grounds, not dig into the bed.
