No pressure
Pump runs, water flows, but pressure gauge shows nothing or very little.
Category: Common Faults & Symptoms
The pump runs and water flows during a shot, but the brew pressure gauge shows little or nothing.
Why it matters — Either the gauge itself has failed, the over-pressure valve (OPV) is stuck open, or a seal somewhere is leaking internally and bleeding the pressure away.
Good to know
- Test the gauge with a blind basket and a known-good pressure setup. If the gauge reads correctly under blind pressure, the issue is elsewhere (OPV, internal seal).
- A stuck-open OPV won't allow pressure to build at all — the pump simply circulates water without backpressure.
