Pressurised (dual wall) basket
A basket with a second wall and a single pin-hole exit that artificially generates pressure regardless of grind or technique, used on entry-level machines like Breville Bambino and the De'Longhi Dedica.
Category: Espresso Machine — Groups & Brew Path
A filter basket with two layers — an outer perforated cup and an inner cup with a single small hole. The pressurised design generates artificial back-pressure regardless of grind, dose, or tamp.
Why it matters — Pressurised baskets make it possible to produce something that looks like espresso (crema, thickness) from pre-ground coffee or imprecise grinders. Good for beginners or for use with cheaper equipment, but they cap the ceiling of what your machine can produce.
Good to know
- Most entry-level home machines ship with a pressurised basket as standard.
- Upgrade to a non-pressurised (single-wall) basket as soon as you have a decent grinder — the shot quality improvement is significant.
