Pump rebuild
Replacing the internal pistons, o-rings or bypass springs on a pump. Standard for rotary pumps after 5–10 years; vibe pumps are usually replaced as a unit.
Category: Maintenance & Servicing
Replacing internal components — pistons, vanes, o-rings, bypass springs — inside a pump to restore performance. Standard for rotary pumps after 5–10 years of café use; vibe pumps are usually replaced as a complete unit rather than rebuilt.
Why it matters — Rotary pumps are precision machines designed to be serviced. A rebuild is much cheaper than a replacement and can restore the pump to as-new condition.
Good to know
- A failing rotary pump often makes more noise, takes longer to reach pressure, and has trouble maintaining 9 bar at the end of a shot.
- Rebuild kits are pump-specific (Procon, Fluid-O-Tech, etc.) — match the kit to the pump model.
