Solenoid stuck
The 3-way solenoid fails to open (no brew) or fails to close (constant drip, no pressure release).
Category: Common Faults & Symptoms
The 3-way solenoid valve fails — either stays closed (no brew) or stays open (constant drip from the group, no pressure release).
Why it matters — Common on machines that haven't been backflushed regularly. Coffee oils accumulate and gum the valve plunger.
Good to know
- A weekly detergent backflush prevents most solenoid issues.
- If the valve is stuck, cleaning (Cafiza soak) sometimes restores it. If not, replacement is straightforward — solenoids are inexpensive parts.
