An American company that produces precision espresso baskets (VST Precision Filter Baskets) and digital refractometers (VST LAB Coffee). VST Inc. has been a major influence on specialty coffee science and measurement.
Why it matters — VST baskets set the standard for what a precision basket means — laser-cut holes in a uniform pattern, with calibrated dose capacity (15g, 18g, 20g, 22g). VST refractometers are the original specialty-coffee TDS measurement tool.
Good to know
- VST baskets are interchangeable with most 58 mm portafilters but check the ridged/ridgeless spec.
- Replace VST baskets every 2–3 years on serious daily use — even precision baskets wear with thousands of brews.
