WaterMark
The Australian regulatory certification (administered by the ABCB) for plumbing products connecting to drinking water systems.

An Australian certification mark required for any plumbing product or plumbed appliance that connects to mains water supply. Administered by the Australian Building Codes Board.
Why it matters — Any espresso machine you plan to plumb directly into the mains must carry WaterMark certification — both for legal compliance and for landlord or strata approval. Machines without WaterMark certification can usually still be used on tank, but not legally plumbed in.
Good to know
- Most commercial espresso machines sold in Australia carry WaterMark; many prosumer machines don't.
- Check the rating plate for the WaterMark logo and license number before arranging plumb-in installation.
