WaterMark certification
The Australian mandatory certification for plumbing products that come into contact with drinking water.

The Australian Building Codes Board certification mark required for any plumbing product or plumbed appliance that connects to mains water. Identifies products that meet Australian plumbing standards.
Why it matters — Required by law for any commercial espresso machine plumbed to mains water in Australia. Without it, plumbing inspections may fail, and landlords or strata may refuse permission to install.
Good to know
- Most commercial espresso machines sold in Australia carry WaterMark; many imported prosumer machines do not.
- If you intend to plumb a machine, verify WaterMark certification before purchase. Tank-fed operation usually doesn't require it.
