Weak steam
Steam pressure feels anaemic — foam is slow or impossible to build.
Category: Common Faults & Symptoms
Steam from the wand feels anaemic — foam is slow to build, the milk barely moves, and texturing takes much longer than usual.
Why it matters — Could be one of three things: steam boiler pressure too low (pstat issue), wand or tip blocked, or wrong steam tip for the machine.
Good to know
- Check the boiler pressure gauge first. Most prosumer machines should sit at 1.0–1.5 bar idle steam pressure.
- If pressure is fine but the steam is still weak, soak and clear the steam tip — milk crusting inside narrow tip holes is the most common cause.
